Owner of Yonda Sports Angus Greenwood had the following to say about this exclusive new partnership, “I am personally hugely excited to work alongside Activity Wales Events, a brand who are professional to work with and put on challenging and successful events with the athlete always their sole focus. To add this new event in the same part of the world as the now established and hugely successful LCW will offer athletes stunning scenery in a place I enjoyed as a child on family holidays. I am hugely proud of Yonda and only affiliate with brands who have synergy with us. AWE ticks every box and we look forward to seeing everyone in July….”
AWE CEO Matthew Evans, an Otillo World Series swim-runner himself was in equally buoyant mood at the news:
“The Wales Swimrun is new for 2019, but the reception has been incredible. VIVO Barefoot supporting the event and now to have Yonda on board as official wetsuit partner is incredible in the first year. Yonda are a very innovative brand and the new kit looks simply stunning, so we are keen to get in the water and try it all out! We already have teams from all over Europe and with the finish line at The New Inn, Amroth I am sure it is going to offer a true International Party atmosphere“
Originating in Sweden in 2002, Swimrun has gathered significant pace in the past 5 years. In 2014 the event was only held in Sweden, now 18 nations fly the Swim Run Flag. The Wales Swim Run will take place along The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park on July 27th 2019. Starting on the cliff tops above Freshwater East, the race will move east taking in Manorbier, Lydstep, Tenby and end in Amroth Village. All running will be off road following the Pembrokeshire Coast path with 3 feed stations positioned on route. In total the event is just over 26k of running and 6.4k of swimming.
